The classes listed below are not the "be happy, be sad, be angry, be rich girl, be tough guy, be nerd" cliché acting so often taught to young actors by the “wanna be” educational theatre industry. This is not the "go with your feelings" or "stand here and smile" technique which leads to self-indulgent, attention dependent actors; who, without a foundation of artistic integrity, often lose their way early in their careers.
This is professional training that performers of all ages can use the rest of their careers. Our process engages and inspires the imagination of each unique individual so that they are self-reliant, inventive, courageous professionals making their own creative choices from the very first day of class in a free-flowing, creative and supportive environment.
Junior & Senior Cabaret (Ages 12-18)
The Cabaret workshop/showcase is a more intense approach in developing the young musical theatre performer with more emphasis placed on song selection, vocal technique and style, writing and producing. Participants have the opportunity to collaborate with each other and the instructor to construct, develop and produce their own show. A wonderful opportunity for them to start calling the shots with plenty of helpful instruction and guidance!

Acting for Musical Theatre (All Ages [12-Adult] - Seperate Div.)

Singing and dancing are not enough to “carry the day”. Educated, triple-threat performers must focus on acting technique just as much as voice and dance in order to stand out. This class is geared towards anyone who displays an interest in developing their self expression as not only a singer/dancer, but also an actor. This class teaches the fundamentals of acting as applied to musical theatre in a way that transforms the performer’s experience into something exceptional. A must for any serious musical theatre performer. (Seperate classes available for adults)

Acting 2 (All Ages [12-Adult] - Seperate Divisions)
(Prerequisite: Acting 1 or Instructor Approval)
Roll up your sleeves, here’s where we get serious… Work in a setting that emulates a true rehearsal process starting with table work, then staging and finally polishing the scene. Designed to give performers the requisite tools of the actor’s process in creating believable and vibrant characters; we cover the next level of acting technique including: super objectives, scenic objectives, actions, obstacles, given circumstance, inner monologue, subtext, sense memory, emotional recall, and improvisation. Working from a foundation of honesty and commitment while making bold, unique, interesting choices, students use contemporary and classical text to explore in-depth character analysis and advanced scene study. The class culminates in the presentation of monologues and/or scenes. Students may repeat this class as often as they wish. A universal foundation for all future study.

Improvisation (All Ages [12-Adult] - Seperate Divisions)
(Seperate classes available for adults)
By far one of the most important classes offered in any actor’s training, improvisation is a valuable tool for freeing the imagination, gaining confidence and deepening emotional connection. Class exercises focus on spontaneity, remaining present, and the power of positive choice. Participants will learn theater games and disciplines, scene development and role-playing while putting creative energy into action, releasing their inhibitions, expanding their imaginations and sharpening their wits. A wonderful tool for developing courage and flexibility on stage, students prepare performance material from improvised scenes and then present this material to an invited audience of family and friends. This class is essential training for all performers and can be repeated as many times as you’d like!
