Musical Theatre Audition Boot Camp + Lab
The goal of this workshop is to stretch your boundaries as a performer and encourage you to try things you never thought possible; in a creative and supportive environment with guidance from an experienced team of working industry professionals. We start by eliminating the word “audition” from your vocabulary. Seriously…never “audition” again! From this point forward your auditioning days are over. Sound too good to be true? It doesn’t have to be. The audition process is a necessary event that you attend in order to get that much closer to what you want to do…perform! But it doesn’t have to be an awful experience. Learn how to make the most of the audition "performance opportunity" by choosing the right material, sharpening your presentation skills, dressing appropriately, knowing your type or your type for the moment, taking risks, unleashing your unique spirit and come to understand that YOU have a contribution to make and the real you is valuable and necessary for many different projects. We will also focus on dance auditions, vocal auditions, callbacks, cold readings, dealing with rejection, and the mindset that an audition can be an occasion of true satisfaction, joy and fun that has greater potential for personal creativity than you ever imagined. Topics covered include:
Rate: $400 for a week-end session + 1 lab
Session Schedule: Friday night (6 pm - 10 pm) and all day Saturday and Sunday (10 am – 5 pm) followed by an Audition Lab where students prepare for mock auditions and talkbacks with industry professionals (agents, casting directors, directors, playwrights, composers, choreographers)
Class size: Limited to 20 students with a minimum of 5 (age appropriate sections can be facilitated)
